Embodying Visionary Leadership

A leader collaborates with the school community to create and implement a shared vision for student success, engagement, learning and well-being.
(a) communicating a philosophy of education that is student-centred and based on sound principles of effective teaching and leadership;
(b) recognizing the school community’s values and aspirations and demonstrating an appreciation for diversity;
(c) collaborating with other leaders and superintendents to address challenges and priorities;
(d) supporting school community members, including school councils, in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities;
(e) promoting innovation, enabling positive change, and fostering commitment to continuous improvement; and
(f ) accessing, sharing and using a range of data to determine progress towards achieving goals.

Transitioning from consciously competent

I am beginning to understand what makes me a successful leader in Education.  I am always challenging my process and looking for ideas and feedback to improve.  Since 2014  I have been growing my sphere of influence and ideas.  I have started to grow my professional learning network on an international level and constantly reach out to other educators to help me drive  change in my practice.
I have worked in many schools and with different leadership styles throughout my journey in education.  I have learned from the leaders that I feel had the qualities of a visionary.  They would lead their staff and students to make improvements in their school by communicating topics or issues in the school, supply resources and data and encourage a  conversation with all stakeholders.  The leadership team would then gather all of the feedback and make the most informed decision they could to improve the school.

Communication

With a strong process in place to it is easier for a leader to communicate their "WHY" clearly and effectively.  Why the school needs to achieve a goal and how to get there.   When the staff, the students and the community understands they why, they can accept and adopt a common "SHARED VISION"
